The Dublin Project

This Dublin home needed help front and back: an overgrown front yard with patchy grass and bushes, and a backyard that was mostly dirt, weeds and leftover debris. The homeowners wanted a clean, modern look out front and a low-maintenance backyard they could actually enjoy.

Designing it first

We designed both yards together in 3D so the homeowners could see how the front and back would tie together, including the walkway layout, the lawn and planting areas, boulder placement and the lighting at night. Seeing it first made it easy to settle on a clean, modern style before construction.

What we built

Out front, we cleared the overgrowth and installed a washed-finish concrete walkway to the front door, framed by low-water planting, boulders and mulch, with an uplit accent tree. In the backyard, we poured a washed-finish concrete patio, laid concrete stepping stones across a fresh lawn, and added new garden beds along the fence and a pathway to the shed. Everything runs on new drip irrigation, and landscape lighting along the paths and uplighting on the trees carry the look into the evening.

The result

The front of the house is clean and modern with real curb appeal, and the backyard went from unusable to a green, easy-care space for relaxing and play. Front and back now look like one design instead of two separate yards.
