The Danville Project

This Danville backyard started as a lawn, a small concrete patio, a shed and a mix of trees and shrubs. The family wanted one yard that worked for everyone: a place for the kids to play, a putting green for the adults, and a shaded spot to gather in the evenings.

Designing it first

We started with a 2D plan that laid out the main areas: putting green, play area, covered patio and planting around the edges. Then we built a 3D design so the family could see the yard from different angles, including at night with the lighting on. It's much easier to move a path or resize a patio on screen than after the concrete is poured.

What we built

The finished yard has a three-hole putting green in Pro Trade turf, a wood arbor patio cover over a paver patio for shade and seating, a dedicated play area for the kids, concrete pathways connecting each space, and garden beds with flowering plants along the fence. Low-voltage landscape lighting lines the paths and green, so the yard is just as usable after dark.

The result

Each area has its own job, but they all connect. Parents can sit under the patio cover and watch the kids play, the putting green sits right off the main path, and the lighting ties everything together at night. Because we design and build, the finished yard closely matches the 3D design.
